چکیده

Abstract Most structural health monitoring systems estimate the overall behavior by measuring acceleration response, which cannot directly measure stress or damage state of individual members. An alternative approach is to use strain measurements; however, methods for analyzing and utilizing data actual steel buildings have not been established. In this study, highly precise semiconductor gauges were applied an building. The accelerations strains measured during earthquake loading used calculate ratio bending moment at beam column sections displacement top building, was defined as “local stiffness.” This physical index represents stiffness elements near measurement location can be easily predicted through simple static frame analysis. local comparable analytical values beams but larger than that columns. indicates nonstructural members may exhibit a certain degree restoring force strongly affected are considered design stage. Conversely, components. dominant frequency columns showed dependency on amplitude, opposite trends observed amplitude due other reasons such components changes in mass.

Propagating Waves in the Steel, Moment-Frame Factor Building Recorded during Earthquakes

Wave-propagation effects can be useful in determining the system identification of buildings such as the densely instrumented University of California, Los Angeles, Factor building. Waveform data from the 72-channel array in the 17-story moment-resisting steel frame Factor building are used in comparison with finiteelement calculations for predictive behavior. The high dynamic range of the 24-b...

Behavior of Steel–Concrete Composite Beams with Corroded Shear Studs Under Negative Bending Moment

The behavior of corroded steel–concrete composite beams under hogging moment was studied by experimental investigation and theoretical analysis. A total of eight specimens, six of which had corroded shear studs, were tested. The corrosion rate of studs ranged from 0 to approximately 50%. The constant-current accelerated corrosion method was adopted to accelerate the corrosion process. The loadi...

Sensitivity Analysis of Fatigue Behaviour of Steel Structure under In-Plane Bending∗

Abstract. The aim of the present paper is to analyse the influence of some input quantities on the fatigue resistance of a steel structure. The steel element subjected to many times repeated in-plane bending moment was analysed. The fatigue resistance was defined as the number of cycles causing the initial crack size propagation up to the critical size. The variability influence of input random...

Locating earthquakes with surface waves and centroid moment tensor estimation

[1] Traditionally, P wave arrival times have been used to locate regional earthquakes. In contrast, the travel times of surface waves dependent on source excitation and the source parameters and depth must be determined independently. Thus surface wave path delays need to be known before such data can be used for location. These delays can be estimated from previous earthquakes using the cut-an...

OPTIMIZATION OF STEEL MOMENT FRAME BY A PROPOSED EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHM

This paper presents an improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (IMOEA) for the design of planar steel frames. By considering constraints as a new objective function, single objective optimization problems turned to multi objective optimization problems. To increase efficiency of IMOEA different Crossover and Mutation are employed. Also to avoid local optima dynamic interference of mutat...
